I just came across an amazing version from 4-12-78, I always loved that song - and there's an even more amazing Bertha in that show! Someone recommended that show a longer while back (might have been Grendelschoice?), I got it and listened to it only now, still many more shows like this on the HD...

So if anyone has another "Mama Tried" - since Skull and Roses it was one of my favourite "short" tunes.

You must check out the 5-15-70 version that Bob & Jerry do with NRPS. Dawson and Bob sing really well together; on this one and the M&MUnc.

My current favorite. I love the acoustic/semi electric sets with NRPS on 5-15, 6-7 and then 9-20 (all 70) for the gospel tunes, and the work that Bob & Dawson do together on a few songs on the first two shows (May & June).

Great, great stuff.

Garcias Back-up vocals on Mama Tried are usually epic

Love the song. Never heard a version that I didn't like although they all tended to be very similar it is a good way to gauge the energy level at a show for me.
